History

Wilson’s Beach Campground is owned and operated by the Lacombe Fish and Game Association. The campground was first started by the association in the late 1950’s, but construction began in 1967. One of the key features and go-to spots on the lake is the Wilson’s Beach pier which was put in place in the late 1980’s. 

Our Campground

Nestled deep in the trees and resting on the sandy shores of Gull Lake sits Wilson’s Beach Campground. A hidden gem where the campsites are well treed and private, a 2-minute walk or less to the beach – and if you’re lucky you can snag a site located right along the beach. There is nothing better than watching the sun disappear over the lake while you’re sitting around the campfire. Our campground is a go-to destination for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and boating. For your convenience our campground has a boat launch for easy access to the lake.

Gull Lake is a large lake in central Alberta. Situated between Edmonton and Calgary and west of the city of Lacombe. Gull Lake is a popular recreational lake with sandy beaches. Located on the south shore is the village of Gull Lake. Wilson’s Beach Campground sits on the east shore of the lake. The village of Gull Lake has seasonal lake cottages and a cute little store called “The Wooden Shoe”. They sell ice cream, all sorts of Dutch candy and other convenience store items. Located down the road, within walking distance from Wilson’s Beach Campground is Anderson Park. It boasts a frisbee course, a park with picnic tables and a basketball court. The town of Bentley is a short drive from the campground and hosts a local farmers market that takes place every Saturday as well as many other summer activities, show and shine car festivals, etc. They also have the “The Monkey Top Saloon” which is a popular local pub in town. Just off highway 12 (heading towards Lacombe from the lake) there is Kraay Family Farms which features a corn maze, animals, and other family-oriented activities. Perfect area for a day trip from the campground to include in your vacation!
